  • Teaching based on Montessori principals and equipment, with a great variety of other activities both indoors and outdoors.

  • Cooked lunch provided for all attending the morning session.

  • Glowing Ofsted Early Years Inspection, November 2004

Pre-Preparatory Department

Boys arriving in the Pre-Prep, either from our Nursery or new to the School, are welcomed into a warm, friendly area, where individuals continue to develop at their own pace, guided and supported by experienced staff. Learning is fun and often takes place in the context of play, especially in the first year.

  • Maximum current class size of 16.

  • Fully qualified teaching staff,  including full time classroom assistant in Reception and the help of GAP students in the other classes. Specialist instrumental and class music teaching.

  • Children take home their books to read with parents each day and are gradually introduced to short tasks for homework.

  • Regular class outings support current learning eg to local museums, the buildings of Christ Church, Oxford Botanic Garden, Wellesbourne and Whitchurch water mills, and Cotswold Wildlife Park.

  • After School Club available daily until 5.30.

  • Written reports at the end of each term: parents are invited and encouraged to discuss their sons’ progress on a frequent basis.  They assist on outings, and with many additional activities.
