Art "The doors to our Art Rooms are always open..." At CCCS we recognise Art as an important creative outlet. Throughout the whole school, from Nursery to Reception and Pre-Prep to our leavers in Form 8, pupils explore the possibilities of painting, print-making, 3-D design, computer graphics, sculpture, model-making and textiles. Through observational drawing, imaginative design projects, landscape, geometric and abstract painting to scrap modelling, we hope to equip our pupils with skills which will help to make sense of the world around them and fulfil their creative potential.
In the end a piece of work, whether drawing or painting, 2-D or 3-D, when achieved with effort and a sense of enjoyment and discovery can only be a success. The greatest result during an Art lesson has to be a piece of work carried by a pupil with a huge smile... J Ruskin: "Fine art is that in which the hand, the head and the heart go together." D. Cotterill, Head of Art: "Terribly messy and noisy sometimes but jolly good fun."
